The individuals who were engaged in slave trade exploited the slaves by exchanging them for other economic commodities. Despite changes in policies, rules and regulations against the slave trade in 20th and 21st century which resulted to decline of slavery, a new type of slavery was born and that is human trafficking. Human trafficking emerged in different ways; through coercion to better life, underground abductions, and force servant-hood. The two major types of human trafficking facing the world today are trafficking for sexual exploitations and trafficking to provide forced labor. Data internationally indicate that other forms of human trafficking are ignored or not taken into consideration. In the United States for example, the law is discriminative because it only covers two types of human trafficking: sex and forced labor trafficking. The law provides a mutual relationship between trafficked victims in exchange for their assistance to prosecute offenders. Studies indicate that these two types of human trafficking are uneven; about 70% cases investigated by agencies showed that 34% involved only labor trafficking while 36% was only sex trafficking. Lack of all types of human trafficking data is another problem that makes nonavailability of data for policy makers to investigate and make reliable human trafficking management policies.

Today when you the word terrorism and immediately we think of al-Qaeda or other Islamic extremists. While Islamic extremism does contribute to certain types of terrorism, there are many other forms as well, all with their own characteristics and challenges for policy makers. These types commonly overlap to describe single terrorist organizations but are useful in providing a way of differentiating what these groups will target and what motivates them. The commonly accepted meaning of the word terrorism is any use of terror in the form of violence or threats meant to coerce an individual, group, or entity to act in a manner in which any person or group could not otherwise lawfully force them to act. There is no true definition of terrorism; the world community has struggled with creating a legal definition of terrorism that is globally accepted. Defining these groups helps us to understand necessary responses to each form of terrorism. Section 1 The child that I am working with is a four year old female named Briniyah. She is in preschool and learning new letters each day. Briniyah is my daughter and I am worried about her not learning phonics as she learns new letters. One day over Christmas break we were reviewing her letter and I asked her â€Å"what sound does the letter B make? † and she said â€Å"Mommy, I don’t know. † This situation concerned me because I am an educator and my child does not know phonics. I became worried and began to panic. I soon discussed the situation with her teacher that I had a concern and we created a plan of action to help Briniyah learn phonics more efficiently. My plan consisted of teaching my daughter phonics. I felt like a failure; how can I be an educator and my child not know phonics? I guess I felt bad because my students knew phonics and are the same age as my daughter. My daughter and I went shopping and purchased two Hooked on Phonics booklets. She already has Leap Frog products at home (CD with songs to learn letters and sounds and the fridge phonics kit). We began practicing the letters along with their sounds. I am going to keep her teacher in the loop so we can work together with Briniyah’s development. I believe that learning phonics is a very important part of learning to read. Children cannot learn site words correctly without learning phonics. I am not saying that it is not possible to learn site words without phonics but I believe that the site words will become a part of rote memory instead of learning how to sound words out. Teaching my daughter phonics is going to be a long process that is going to take patience and persistence. I am very focused on my daughter learning phonics and I determined to be her first and best educator. In the end I will be able to measure her success when we review the letters along with their sounds and she can confidently give me the sounds and begin to make words when she puts the sounds together. Section 2 Teaching phonics is going to be a challenge as I stated before. I plan on working with my daughter one-on-one very diligently so she could be successful with learning phonics and learning how to read eventually. My plan of action is for us to sit down each day begin our phonics lesson. We will begin with the letter B of course since it’s the first letter of her name. I will choose the next letter according to the letter she is working on in school. We will go over the letter and its sound. I will use picture cards to help with the phonics lesson; these cards will give her more words and help build her vocabulary as well. Continued communication between her teacher and I is very important. We need to be on the same page to make sure Briniyah is successful with this phonics assignment

Gender Imbalance

If such a large gender imbalance continues, effects on Asian society will include having a bad economy, a slower birthrate and many detrimental psychological effects especially on Asian men. Firstly, there will be a bad economy if the trend of a large gender imbalance whereby there are many woman short, continues. This is due to two main reasons. Men will very likely subject to frustration based on the fact that they have no one to release any sexual pleasure on, hence many stay bachelors, despite the want to find a partner and settle down. Men will also lose any focus on work as they constantly think about â€Å"sex† and what-nots so when there is no focus put on their jobs, there will be no improvements or progress made, thus the economy is bound to slow down. Also, many men will stay unmarried as there is not enough women. Hence, if men do not get married, they would not need to purchase any additional supplies for both marriage and children needs, thus these industries sup plying such products will have loses as the demand will be lesser than the supply. Secondly, Asia will meet with a slower birthrate.Take Singapore for example, already there is a huge problem with the slow birthrate – thus the government are stepping up efforts to kerb this problem. However, with the current gender imbalance, things will only detiororate. This is mainly due to men, who many stay bachelors , as they cannot find a suitable partner, they won't get married thus they would not produce any babies. If this trend continues, the birthrates will fall by a lot, as for every woman Asia is short of , that is the possible number of men that will stay as bachelors , in this case 160 million – which is 40 times Singapore's population, hence it is a very big number.Also, 160 million times the replacement rate of Asia will be the number of babies that can be given birth to , if there is no gender imbalance, thus there would be a huge difference and the birthrate will be very slow as these babies are not given birth to, based on the absence of 160 million women. Thirdly, Asian men will face with many negative psychological and sexual effects. They will have sexual frustration as they would have no place to let out their sexual desire- hence possibly turning to prostitution, which is wrong.Also, they will let out any sexual desires in the wrong place, leading to a wrong sexual orientation, which will also lead them to committing crimes and sins. The fact that a large majority will never get married will be a huge blow to them as they will never find a partner for life. This is due to the lack of 160 million women in Asian, thus these men will definitely face such effects. In conclusion, a large gender imbalance will lead to a bad economy, a slower birthrate and detrimental psychological effects , in the long run.
